Health tourism and Türkiye's position
In recent years, health tourism has been growing rapidly throughout the world, as well as in Türkiye, and has become a very important alternative sector in the tourism industry.
Health tourism is the travel of an individual to any country other than the country of residence for the purpose of recovery and any treatment in order to gain health. A person who travels for the purpose of treatment is also called a health tourist. Health tourism should not be evaluated only as a tourism that is referred to hospitals for treatment. Health tourism can be divided into three parts: medical tourism, hot spring tourism, and tourism for the elderly and disabled.

According to statistics published by the Health Tourism Foundation, 70% of people who come to Turkey for medical tourism travel to Turkey from Germany, the Netherlands, France, the Turkic Republics, Austria and the Middle East. 92% of these people prefer private hospitals and 8% prefer public hospitals.
In the last 9 years, great leaps have been recorded in the field of health in Turkey. Turkey offers services at the level of European standards with modern hospitals, trained human resources, specialist doctors, technological infrastructure and many experiences. Turkey ranks second in the world in this field with 37 hospitals, 3 laboratories, a transport vehicle and an outpatient treatment center, a total of 42 health centers that have been accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI).
In short, the country's private, public and university hospitals, with Istanbul and Ankara hospitals at the forefront, are equipped with the best technologies in the world. In the structure of the Health Tourism Organization, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, translation services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Arabic, Persian, English, German and Russian via telephone 112 in emergencies, telephone 184 for complaints, and also in hospitals to international patients. Private and public hospitals are at the level of Western countries in terms of technological equipment and physical conditions. Also, Turkey is ranked seventh in the world and first in Europe in terms of hot springs tourism, and it also has well-equipped and well-established spa hotels in this field.

As a result, Turkey is ready to offer its climate, natural beauties, historical and cultural sites, health services available in hospitals at the level of Western standards, and hydrotherapy services to all people, and will always be the gateway to healing for a healthy life for everyone.
