In making an investment, you can use one of the following methods: investing through the purchase of property; cash deposit; purchasing government bonds; establishing a company, etc.
The fixed capital amount for investment or deposit for foreigners to obtain Turkish citizenship is $500,000, while previously this amount was $200,000. Also note that your deposit must be made in a bank located in Turkey that is approved by the Banking Supervision and Regulation Authority. And you as an investor cannot withdraw your deposit from the bank for at least three years. Also, according to the new laws adopted in 2022, investment in the bank must be made in lira, meaning the equivalent of $500,000 must be converted into lira with the Central Bank of Turkey and then placed in the account.
If you purchase government bonds worth $500,000, these bonds must be approved by the Turkish Treasury Department and you are not allowed to transfer or sell the bonds to anyone else for 3 years.
When you purchase property to obtain Turkish citizenship, you should keep in mind that you are not allowed to sell the property for 3 years, and this point is also mentioned in the property deed.
